The draw held in Animal Center provided a rematch of last year's final between Animal Center and Party Coast. Donutland and Terror Island were drawn together and Humble Village will have Frogland as main contenders.
Animal Center will have to fight from the beginning. The capital team will face last year's runners-up Party Coast in Group A and will make their debut once again against Side-by-side Towers - a team that will be looking for redemption after failing in 2008. Saurians' Jungle are the fourth team in contention in this group.
But the question remains the same after another year: Is there any team able to stop Animal Center? Donutland are one of the main rivals, but first they will have to beat Carlin and Terror Island. Meanwhile, in Group C, Humble Village will try to get over last year's letdown and be back among the best teams. With last championship's semifinalists Frogland as biggest threat, Humble Village should be getting a good position for the final round.
The completed groups are:
- Group A:
Animal Center •
Party Coast •
Saurians' Jungle •
Side-by-side Towers
- Group B:
Donutland •
Carlin •
Terror Island •
Snow Mountains
- Group C:
Frogland •
Humble Village •
Calm Forest •
Gloomy Marsh
The tournament will begin tomorrow 25th December and laDecimosexta will provide live coverage within Animaland.

The Animal Center Football Federation puzzled the entire country after naming 'deceased' Gatito as their new captain. The Italian was just faking his death once again. Gatito will explain himself in an official press conference and also will talk about his return to football.
Gatito Memé is alive and kicking. A shocking announcement on the Animal Center Football Federation website (which doesn't exist) not only confirms this, but also points out that he will be the new Animal Center captain for the Animaland National Football Championship 2009. Gatito was the team captain between 2003 and 2005, and under his guidance began the Animal Center glorious streak of five championships.
It is reported that Gatito was just faking to be dead for a second time. He already did this from 2006 to 2007, when he was discovered by some media. But this time he has been out of public life for more than two years and no one has been able to track him down. One of the most controversial figures in Animaland is again in the eye of the storm and a lot of people expect him to give a good explanation.
However, Gatito has refused to talk to the press so far. He was seen on his arrival at Animaland International Airport, but he was flanked by some Animal Center Football Federation directors. In the next few days, it is expected that Gatito talks about his faked death and his new spell in the Animal Center team in an official press conference. Eternal Gatito is back.

Humble Village launched their new kit for the Animaland National Football Championship 2009 yesterday. They weren't completely satisfied with the previous one. Star Pikachu Sawa was the player chosen for the launch.
Humble Village have a new kit. The villagers launched what will be their kit for the Animaland National Football Championship 2009 in an official ceremony yesterday. Thus, the host team leaves their previous design after only one year. This change is expected to bring positive responses from the fans, who didn't show much approval for last year's kit.
A Humble Village Federation (FAH) director explained that "we aimed for a change. Our fans aimed for a change. We wanted a more modern design for our regional team kit and I think we got it." The new kit presents some blue details and a major change in the stockings colour, which has been switched from blue to white. "I think the new combination looks more professional," he added.
Local star Pikachu Sawa was chosen for the presentation of the new kit. However, the Japanese player wasn't able to put on the shorts and only showed the new shirt. Pikachu was supposed to say he was very happy with the change and that he liked the previous kit, but no more than the new one. He also was quoted to say that he expects the new kit to bring them luck and that he hopes to score his 100th goal wearing this new shirt.

Gatin Mêmo has informed the TV station laDecimosexta that he won't be able to attend the Animaland National Football Championship 2009. He was last year's championship commentator for the Animalish station. Gatin said that he will be working for his foundation away from his homeland, the Cook Islands.
The Animalish TV station laDecimosexta will have to find a new sports commentator for the Animaland National Football Championship 2009 after Gatin Mêmo announced that he won't be able to travel to Animaland due to his workload. The president of the TITO Foundation replaced Conssen Nigsen last year in a very successful way.
Gatin Mêmo said that he'll be leaving the Cooks Islands in the next few days to travel to Costa Rica, where he'll work in new projects for his foundation. He added he is sorry for not being able to collaborate with laDecimosexta, but he also wants to keep himself out of public life.
Now, laDecimosexta will try to follow its successful strategy to hire sports commentators to find a new partner for Anónimo and Taku.

In an official press conference, T-Rex announced he will take a break as a football player. He won't be the Animal Center captain in the next tournament. He said he doesn't have enough time to focus on his job.
Few would have expected what was coming when T-Rex Memé called a press conference yesterday morning. The French player announced his break from football and his resignation as the captain of Animal Center. T-Rex has always been present in the Animal Center squad and has also been the captain in the last three tournaments, which makes him one of the players to have won five championships.
T-Rex justified his decision saying: "Now I don't have enough time to focus on my job as captain of the Animal Center team. Recently I have been occupied with some other issues and I cannot do it as I would like to." When he was asked if those 'issues' had something to do with his aim of reaching the atmosphere, T-Rex answered angrily: "That's none of your business! I'm fed up with people who ask way too much. I'm here to announce my break from football and the rest is private. My reasons are personal. Any other question?" After that no one felt like asking anything else and the press conference was finished.
Speculation about who will become the new captain and manager of Animal Center has already begun. Some of the names that the Animal Center federation is supposed to be considering include top goalscorer Mufasa's brother Simba Mekeri (as manager only), current player Conejito Memé and TITO Foundation president Gatin Mêmo.
